    Willie Buckley

    Clinical Director

    MRCVS

    Willie grew up on a local farm, and after graduating from University College Dublin in 1994, he worked in Northern Ireland, Wales, the Hebrides and New Zealand. He holds additional qualifications in herd health, has an interest in mastitis and surgery and is a founding member of XLVETS Ireland and a member of Animal Health Ireland’s Cellcheck Technical Working Group.

    Michael Sexton

    Managing Clinical Director

    MRCVS

    After graduating in 1992, Michael worked in practices in East Cork, West Waterford and Australia. His clinical interests include bovine abdominal surgery, bovine fertility and infectious cow diseases, and he has extensive experience within bovine reproduction, having completed a master’s degree in viral epidemiology. He is involved with Animal Health Ireland and is a member of the BVDFree and Biosecurity Technical working groups.

    Gavin Russell

    Clinical Director

    Gavin heads up our Bandon clinic, and has a passion for keeping abreast of new research and developments in veterinary science. He holds a certificate in small animal medicine, and is something of a barbeque master and outdoor enthusiast in his spare time. He also loves taking road trips with his family, relaxing with his cats and pottering about in his garden.

    Carl McAuliffe

    Referral Senior Veterinary Surgeon (Ballincollig)

    MRCVS

    Originally from Cloyne, Carl heads up our Ballincollig trauma clinic and leads our surgical referral service. He graduated from University College Dublin in 1999, and worked in referral practices for ten years before turning his attention to advanced surgery. He takes referral orthopaedic, spinal and soft tissue surgical cases from vets across Munster and beyond, as well as our own complex trauma and surgical cases.

    Kieran Hinds

    Veterinary Surgeon

    MRCVS

    Kieran graduated from University College Dublin in 2019, and is a part of our Carrigaline team. He is enthusiastic about all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a keen interest in small animal surgery. He’s passionate about all animals, and is humbled daily by what he learns from clients and their pets. In his spare time he enjoys beekeeping and creating art.

    Evelyn Coleman

    Evelyn loves her job so much we have to remind her to go home! When she’s not wearing scrubs, she likes to take her dog, Jenny, for forest and beach walks, play tag rugby and take care of her rescue cat, Joleen.

    Maria knew she wanted to become a vet as a child, and loves getting to feel helpful every day and help animals get better. Her hobbies include cooking, listening to music, exercising outside and playing with her dog, Charlotte.

    After graduating from University College Dublin in 2007, Joanne worked in practices in the UK and Australia before settling in Cork. She works with our Carrigaline team and has a keen interest in feline medicine and diagnostic imaging. Outside of work, she is kept busy with her three children, husband and their pets, and enjoys tennis, yoga and eating out.

    Connor Carroll

    Connor joined our intern programme after qualifying as a veterinary surgeon, and enjoys getting to improve the lives of patients and families every day. When he’s not working, he likes spending time with his dogs and cats and reading any book that seems interesting enough to be worth his while.

    Cliona has a passion for all animals large and small, and although she’s based at our Ballincollig clinic, you may find her out on a farm tending to a cow’s health needs. Our wide variety of clients keep her busy, but when she’s not working, she loves running and spending time with Asia, her family’s lovely collie cross.

    Jim is originally from the Macroom area, and has a keen interest in animal welfare, surgery and keeping up with new developments in veterinary medicine. He has a keen interest in dairy herd health, and loves the daily challenges and physical nature of his role. His professional specialities include cattle lameness, housing and cattle management systems.

    Sonya Brady

    Sonya loves getting the chance to optimise her patients’ health and wellbeing and working in a passionate environment. She enjoys running and spending time with her family and their tabby cat, Rory, who she adopted as a stray. Rory is now a fully-fledged house cat who has got used to his home comforts.

    Fiona is originally from County Armagh, and lives locally with her husband, children and their cat, Bob. She works from our Kinsale branch, and loves getting to know our clients and their pets both inside and outside of work. In her own time, she loves walking, running and being outdoors.

    Originally from County Mayo, Daniel graduated from University College Dublin in 2008 and later worked in Australia. He holds graduate certificates in small animal medicine and one health, and moved to Cork in 2020. He is passionate about animal welfare and has a keen interest in parasitology, as well as travelling and spending time outdoors.

    Patrick Casey

    Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon

    Patrick worked in the UK before joining us in 2020, and after a number of years spent in mixed animal practices, he decided to focus on dairy cattle work. His main interests lie with cattle fertility, lameness and housing design, and he has a great deal of experience with large, intensive dairy herds. He is an avid surfer, and loves mountain and trail running and cycling.

    Greg loves meeting new people and the variety of his job, where he’s challenged to solve problems with only the contents of his car boot. He has a dog called Hudson and a rabbit called Dave. He is also a big Munster rugby supporter and a keen barbecuer.

    After graduating from Ghent University in 2021, Maria gained experience at a practice in the Netherlands. She joined us a year later, and loves the variety of cases she sees every day and the creativity cases sometimes require! She has a dog called Vera and enjoys yoga, hiking and going on adventures, especially ones that involve motorbikes or camping.

    Ciara has always loved helping animals, and likes working outdoors and the unpredictability of her day-to-day schedule. In her own time, she enjoys reading, hiking, knitting and taking care of her lurchers, Maisie and Ziggy, her nine pet sheep and her horses.

    A proud Yorkshireman, Craig graduated from the University of Bristol in 2016, after which he joined a farm practice in the Midlands and worked as a dairy vet in New Zealand for three years. He enjoys interacting with our clients and team members, as well as improving the welfare of the animals he treats. His favourite pastimes include travelling and hiking.

    Rebecca Rourke

    Rebecca leads our nursing team in Ballincollig, and has a particular passion for anaesthesia and nursing critical patients. A fitness enthusiast, she spends much of her free time playing camogie, walking her dogs and cycling. She shares her home with five dogs, called Maggie, Zeus, Buddie, Harper and Hollie.

    Growing up on a small farm inspired Catriona’s love of animals from a young age, with many mornings and evenings spent helping out with the sheep. She loves going for walks and swims with her family and has two dogs called Lexi and Cooper, who get along very well with her three daughters.

    Sarah loves the rewarding and varied nature of her role, and has a keen interest in behaviour and rehabilitation. She has two dogs of her own, as well as a horse and a Shetland pony, who she loves pottering about with in her free time.

    Mena spent time living and working in the UK before returning to Ireland and joining our team. She has many years of veterinary nursing experience, and loves that every day is different and teaches her new skills. Her hobbies include arts and crafts, yoga, going for walks on the beach and spending time with her rescue cat, Rua.

Although she doesn’t have any pets of her own and dreams of having her own little pack one day, she feels that her job and the pets she sees every day make up for it.

    Susan has always had a passion for dogs and grooming, and worked as a professional show handler for many years. She has two terriers of her own, and makes sure that every pet and client come away happy.

    Judi’s clients rely on her to keep their pets looking and feeling great. In her own time, she enjoys paragliding, wild swimming and maintaining her home aviary of wonderful birds. Our practice is a home from home for her, and she is always on hand with a cup of tea for her fellow team members.

    Flower is passionate about dogs and likes nothing more than discussing new styles and grooming tips with pet owners. When she’s not at work or pampering her own dogs, she loves researching new grooming techniques. Her favourite pastimes include roller skating, jogging and going for long hikes in the lovely West Cork countryside.

    Mary works with farmers and pet owners, and loves our practice’s friendly environment. She is our “go to person”, and will turn her hand to whatever is needed. She loves to relax by reading and eating, which often go together, and has a cocker spaniel called Milo and a cat called Muggle, who loves to curl up with her.

    Catherine enjoys her varied role on reception, particularly the time she spends with clients and their animals. When she’s not working, she likes relaxing with her dog, Ronnie, and cat, Dexter, who get on famously. They also like to accompany her on walks, although Dexter usually stays at home for her more arduous hikes.

    Angela joined the team in 2020, and has vast experience within retail and customer service. She loves catching up with clients, keeping things organised and putting a smile on everyone’s faces. Outside of work, she enjoys snuggling up with her dogs, watching her husband and son play sports, shopping and catching up with friends.

    Emily organises all of our TB testing. She is a keen rugby player in her spare time and having played competitively for 13 years, she now coaches a youth team. She is also the proud owner of a golden retriever called Sam and a baking enthusiast – we all enjoy trying out her latest cake recipes.

    When it comes to farm supplies, there’s not a lot Tim can’t help with. He believes his work is one of the linchpins to healthy animals, and enjoys working with the farmers we support. In his own time, he loves hiking with his dog, Sammy, and listening to a wide variety of music.

    Jane studied animal science at University College Dublin, and loves the variety of animals and cases we see, as well as the lovely owners we deal with every day. She enjoys working with our super team, and spends much of her spare time showing her dogs or going showjumping with her children.

    Jacqui joined us after a long, varied career working in the public and private sectors in the UK and Argentina. She has worked as a riding instructor, an animal nurse, a zoo keeper, a motorcycle courier and in HR, so joining our practice has allowed her to bring together many of the threads of her past lives. At home, she has five dogs and two cats.

    Originally from West Cork, Brian studied veterinary medicine in Budapest, and later completed specialist internships in Cambridge and Surrey and a PG Certificate through the University of Nottingham. He has a keen interest in small animal medicine, orthopaedics and neurology, and loves socialising with friends and golf, tennis and GAA.

    Patrick graduated from the Veterinary College of Ireland in 1984, and worked at an Irish mixed practice and a companion practice in the UK before returning to Cork in 1989 to become a partner at Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital. He joined our team in 2023, and has acted as a consulting veterinary surgeon for the Irish Guide Dogs of Ireland and Fota Wildlife Park for over thirty years.

    After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012, Anna worked at practices in the south east of England and Essex, before moving to Ireland and joining our team in 2024. She has a particular interest in surgery and ophthalmology, which she holds post-graduate certificates in, and enjoys swimming, exploring Cork and taking care of her dog in her free time.

    Eimear graduated from University College Dublin in 2014, and has been working with small animals ever since. She joined our team in 2023, and has a special interest in cats and feline dentistry, as she has two cats of her own at home.
